artist's book / 90 pages / language: german
__________ : Katalog is a book about inoffcial Art German: Texts exaggeratedly und uncritically promoting just about any artist as the most important intellectual to currently be obsessed with and ennobling their practice by labelling their work as scientific research, social work and polictical activism all at once, enabled, if not forced, by the art world's comparatively small audience and close-knit interdependencies resulting in an unwillingness to publish anything but complacent, laudatory praise.
The book itself is a collection of texts taken from actual catalogues and publications, remixed and reworked into a mixture of sticker album and gap text: The reader themselves can fill in their name and cross out lines they don't need while hightlighting others. Blank boxes with descriptions explain what kind of image they should paste in them, and the vita already declares that they live in London and New York.
The book is available through Schnecken Publishing.
An accompanying artist statement gap text (DE/EN) can be downloaded here.
